As part of the racism and anti-racism seminars AIAS Fellows Stefan Bargheer and Kei Hiruta are convening this year, AIAS is hosting talks by Bogdan C. Iacob (Institute of History, Romanian Academy; formerly at AIAS) and Raluca Grosescu (National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest) on 16 September.
The workshop explores the role of states socialist countries of Central Eastern Europe in the global struggle against racism through outlawing apartheid and advocating health as human right under international law. It focuses on the ideological divides between Western and Eastern governments in interaction with Global South visions on racial equality, humanitarian aid, and welfare policies.
